PokerStars ( www.pokerstars.com ), which is the biggest online poker site in existence, has sweetened the pot for it’s fifth anniversary celebration that will be held on Sunday, March 6, 2011. To celebrate, the popular poker site is hosting their Guaranteed Sunday Million by making it a $5 million event! That’s some anniversary party.
The total prize pool is $5 million. The winner gets $1 million and a Lamborghini Gallardo LP560-4. The buy-in for the Guaranteed Sunday Million is the same as always, $215.00. But players may win a seat by playing in one of many satellite tournaments for $1.00 or 100 Frequent Player Points.
PokerStars has been running numerous new features and promotions. They recently introduced a new format to their 10-sest 50-50 sit and gos, where 5 of 10 players are guaranteed receiving their buy-in back and they also receive a certain percentage of the buy-ins from the 5 players who are eliminated. In the past, each of the five remaining players received the same amount, splitting the leftover buy-ins evenly. In this new format, those who are not eliminated receive a certain percentage of the remaining buy-in cash based on how many of the 15,000 chips on the table they hold.
As an example, if the buy-in is $20.00 and the top player left in the game after the 5 have been eliminated has 7,500 chips (half of the total chips), that player would get 50% of the buy-ins from the 5 players eliminated. The total amount of available cash would be $100. Thus, the top player would receive $50.00 plus their original buy-in of $20.00 for a total of $70.00.
PokerStars is also allowing members to start their own private poker rooms where they can run their own games and invite their friends to play. Plus, they also offer chances every week for members to qualify to play on their TV show entitled The Big Game. This is a high stakes event where members compete versus Team PokerStars professionals.
The special PokerStars Million Guaranteed Sunday event with a total prize pool of $5 million is schedule to start at 4:30 ET on Sunday, March 6, 2011. A few hours prior to the major event’s start, PokerStars will offer a special $11.00 turbo super satellite with 1,000 seats guaranteed. There’s a lot of cash to be won at PokerStars.
